PLANET STORM

Some time ago when someone said that something very bad was going to happen, no one believed it. Now everyone wants to run for cover. Retreat to the mountains and wait for the internet to jump, for all technology to collapse. Because this will happen too and we will not be here watching videos but out there trying to survive.
How long have we known that our planet is in danger? We all think that this ecological awareness is recent, that we started talking about the climate only about twenty years ago. But are we sure that we do not send it even earlier? Are you sure no one had talked about it yet? The first “manuscript found” is The suicidal society: requiem for an infected planet, by Gordon Rattray Taylor, from 1970 (in Italy it arrived, for the Mondadori types, in 1971. The original subtitle was a little more hopeful: Mankind can survive! The Doomsday Book). An entire chapter, the third, is titled “Ice Age or Heat Death?”, And tells of the discussions between the supporters of two theses then present. At the time, the earth’s temperature had not yet started the last step of the so-called hockey stick – a term used to describe the period, in the seventies / eighties, which saw a decisive and definitive rise in the earth’s temperature.
If the idea was abandoned by science in the seventies, it was not forgotten by the media. Newsweek weekly in 1975 titled a cover story “The Cooling World”. Many deniers clung to this and other generalist media articles even in the following decades (even after 2000, as Crichton did in 2004) to disprove the idea of man-made global warming. The myth therefore, like a phoenix, occasionally resurrects, as evidenced by this debunking article by Climate Feedback.
The next book is the historian The closing circle, by Barry Commoner (The closing circle: the first American edition is from 1971). On page 39 of the first book he states: Now we are burning these fossil fuels, and therefore the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air starts to rise again: the effect that this phenomenon could have on the Earth’s temperature is the subject of lively discussions by scientists.
Do we think that desertification is in our distant future? Could it be 50 or 100 years to go to have a destroyed soil? We perhaps believe that we will not live in that future and therefore we are calm and instead of knowing the truth and seeing the real data of what is happening to our planet we read romance novels, thrillers, and a lot of other stuff, to forget our lousy life and the disgust humans are causing around the planet. But will all this happen Romans or is it already happening today? It is useless to be there crying for memories, past loves, weddings, projects, ideas .. We are destroying our planet and there is no time. There is no more time. Action must be taken now. Now!!!

The ice sheet covering Greenland is melting at such an accelerated rate that it is now believed likely that it has passed the point of no return and may represent a primary factor in global sea level rise over the next two decades. . The entire Arctic, according to the most recent studies by the American National Academy of Science, is warming at twice the rate of the rest of the planet and the melting of the Greenland ice is the most visible effect. The ice loss had been estimated at 400 billion tons in 2012 alone, about four times more than in 2003. After a stagnation in 2013-2014, explained by the North Atlantic Oscillation, in recent years the process has accelerated again and the The conclusion is that in all likelihood the forecasts of the effects of global warming on the planet have so far been too conservative. The reality appears to be more serious than expected.

I think awareness of “climate change” has been around for about 150-200 years! And today we know EVEN MORE about its impact! How can we possibly ask 8 billion individuals, in completely different environments, to act together to change direction?

There are tips written in many languages, tips for not wasting energy, not wasting food, saving animals and many other useful things. Just look for them. If I care about the planet, I just need to follow some simple tips to prevent it from being submerged, for example, by plastic. I have talked about it several times here in my blog but I understand that people are attracted to many other things. But at least you have to try to do something, don’t you think?
