CHRISTMAS HANDMADE GIFTS

The holidays are approaching and Christmas presents are a task to complete as soon as possible. There are many people to whom we would like to give a gift (even a small one), and it often becomes a necessity to make cheap Christmas gifts.

The perfect solution? DIY Christmas gifts are the perfect compromise between the need not to spend large sums, and the pleasure of communicating all our love to loved ones by dedicating them a thought made from the heart, to which we have dedicated time and creativity. In addition, it is a good way to make original Christmas gifts, and it is also a way of making sustainable and more ecological gifts, especially if you take advantage of creative recycling. So since there are so many people who create beautiful things but who may not have a showcase, here I would like to make this post available to give you the opportunity to link in the comments some sites or blogs of people who sell handmade items so we can help them sell something. What you think about that?

HOBBIES FOR WINTER DAYS

Sometimes I have felt it hard for many people to get bored, especially on rainy winter days. So why not rediscover something useful to do at home?
"Do-it-yourself" is not building a wardrobe or a table but also small jobs that even the most inexperienced person can do.
Bricolage is something creative that can make you relax from very busy days or evenings that are too quiet.
DIY allows you to save money, to reuse materials and resources already present in the home (giving them new life!). Furthermore, a self-produced product or object must not be transported, packaged and does not generate waste.

BUY ONLY HANDMADE PRODUCTS

There are many people who create objects, clothes, furniture, jewelry, .. recycling materials and thus helping the environment. When you have to give a gift, think first of all about buying these products. Your choice is really important. NO MADE IN CHINA. We do not feed the trade in items made by exploiting foreign children. Buy handmade items from grown-up and creative people.
I am not the first and I will not be the last to recommend giving handmade gifts, giving handmade creations. I wrote it quite a few years ago and I recommend it again today, especially at Christmas, especially at this time, but also and above all … always. The reasons are innumerable.
Each handmade creation as such is different from the other. No two handmade objects are alike and this makes each object a special gift. You can be sure that no one will have given an item like yours as a gift.
It is handmade from start to finish. From the conception, to the design, to the creation, up to the packaging and shipping, everything in each handmade object is handmade. It is made by a person who loves what he does. Behind every handcrafted object there is a person who loves what he does. Each creation is made with passion, love and attention to detail. This is why the creative / craftsman / designer puts his name and face on what he does.
When you give someone a handmade item, you are telling that person that they deserve something unique and special. You are not giving it any piece of plastic, but all the love, attention, and mastery that that object breathed while it was being created.
Buying a handcrafted object and being able to communicate directly with the craft-maker gives you the opportunity to request a personalization of the object to give as a gift. This doesn’t happen if you buy mass-produced things.
Buying a handmade object is an important way to directly support craftsmanship and creativity. It is a way to reward talent, passion, care, responsibility and when you buy a handmade creation, it is as if you were saying to the artist: Bravo, I like what you do! and the craftsman needs to hear this more than anyone else. The choice to buy handmade supports the realization of a dream and gratifies an artist who does not create to become rich: his real wealth is being able to continue doing what he does.
Supporting local artisans is a conscious choice, an important sign to be launched at everyone to support the little ones. A sign to make it clear that we like more to have a connection with those who produce culture, rather than with a silent shelf in a department store.
I don’t always say, but often recycled materials are used to create a handmade object. Often waste materials are used or objects are put back into circulation that would otherwise be thrown away. The handmade creation as such limits the use of machinery and chemicals and reduces the production of waste.

CREATIVE SHELLS

When a predator enters the shell in an attempt to eat its contents and does not succeed, it remains inside a part of it that injures and irritates the meat of the mollusk, and the oyster if it closes and must do I continued with that enemy, with the stranger. Then the mollusk begins to release layers of itself to the intruder, and they were tears: mother of pearl. A tight concentricity built in a period of five or five years, a pearl with a unique and irritable character. What initially serves to free and differentiate the shell from what irritates it and distributes various ornaments, a precious and inimitable jewel. So is beauty: it hides stories, often painful. But only the stories make it interesting.
The waves of the sea break slowly on the beach, one after another, and every now and then they find a shell and try to take it away, to take it with them. The waves of the sea remind me so much of me, and you are the shell. With every smile, every kiss, every glance, I tried to take you away with me and for a while I succeeded. But then the low tide pushed the shell away from the wave, and made another wave take care of it, and the wave was very bad, and it stretched a lot, a lot to reach the shell only to find out that it now belonged to another wave. Eventually the wave withdrew. She will miss her shell so much, she will miss it forever.
Observe a child collecting shells on the beach: he is happier than the richest man in the world. What is its secret? That secret is mine too. The child lives in the present moment, enjoying the sun, the brackish air of the beach, the wonderful expanse of sand. It is here and now. It doesn’t think about the past, it doesn’t think about the future. And whatever he does, he does it with totality, intensely; he is so absorbed in it that he forgets everything else. The secret of happiness is all here: whatever you do don’t allow the past to distract your mind and don’t allow the future to disturb you.
We should learn to listen better to ourselves; and I don’t mean to hear what we say, I mean to explore ourselves, understand our fears, our needs, understand what and what is really worth fighting for; like when picking up a shell from the beach we bring it to our ears like children, thinking we hear the sound of the sea, and instead we are listening to our blood flowing. What I mean is that we perpetually live in the illusion of feeling something; but in reality we cannot understand what we are going through either, perhaps simply because we cannot describe it. I believe that the day when, in addition to giving a name to the feelings, we will be able to explain them; it will be the day when all our emotions lose their importance; like when you bring the shell to your ear: if you think you hear the sound of the sea it intrigues you and you keep trying; but in the sound of the blood flowing in your veins you find nothing interesting, and you leave the shell there, on the table, along with the previous hopes
In the last months / years, I found myself in close proximity to myself, I had to make happy and many painful decisions to be able to put myself at the center of my world and not in a corner where I have always been; it’s complicated if you don’t even know where to start. Yet here I am, I have already achieved some set goals and I am punctually creating small goals to be able to remember the fatigue and satisfaction I felt. It’s nice to be energetic, with the desire to live life and always fill it with new things to see / do and zero boredom as usual I was and I’m used to, but it’s also just as nice to rest, get lost in memories or in that exact moment , not counting the minutes or the hours, realizing that in that precise moment, in this little big world, you are there too.
Memories always stop at the limit, like shells at the foot of the sea, just a breath of wind and the waves immerse them and what was outside is now inside, like emotions, when the memory passes in the eyes, Emotions bathe them, And what was inside is now outside.

FEMALE CRAFTMANSHIP

It is very nice to see that these young women are still passionate about sewing. I only sew with needle and thread, so as not to consume electricity, and for me it is just a hobby, I only make bags, because I am not able to make clothes. I believe that women’s craftsmanship is very important and it would be very nice if they taught it in schools, both to boys and girls.
I admire people who sew clothes. I recently noticed that the clothes that the shops sell are low in residue and of poor quality. After a few washes they become very bad and come off immediately. Even branded clothes and bags are badly sewn, they become horrible, misshapen and the zippers are destroyed quickly. We can only see beautiful clothes at fashion shows and in designer shops. So fashion is only for a very wealthy group of people. I find it nice to be able to create clothes by yourself and to be able to choose but now there are not many fabrics. The Italian textile industry is in crisis and unfortunately from China and India no longer beautiful fabrics arrive but poor materials. So there are no fabric shops either. My mother bought many fabrics to sew beautiful clothes for clients and for us daughters. I think it's nice to be able to sew baby clothes too or sew dolls to give to poor children.
There are a lot of people who sew, who knit, crochet, who do patchwork and macrame and embroidery. All of these people need to be valued. So we look for their creations on the sites and buy beautiful things created by people who have a lot of imagination and the patience to create masterpieces.
I am an animal activist and I don’t buy real leather bags or even leather shoes. I love cloth bags and cloth shoes. I believe we have to protect the calves and all the animals that are killed for their skins and furs. I don’t like furs and I don’t like animals being killed for fashion reasons.

FEMININE CREATIVITY

Creative recycling is something
that helps the environment
and makes sure that many things
not used are thrown away but
reused using imagination.
Women are very brave in this.
Here are two old lamps that
I had in the attic, decorate
with colored ribbons and
pendants.
They are very beautiful for
a bedroom or study.
I made them a long time ago
and I am very happy with not
average throws.

WOMEN HANDICRAFT

20190825_124859.jpg
some years ago I believed that
 female creativity and craftsmanship
could give me satisfaction and help me
with my family expenses. but afterwards
I realized that I and all the other
women we created all those beautiful
things we were destined not to sell
nullaxe and not to have any profit.
the reason? the other women bought
 branded items, branded bags, branded
clothes and branded jewels.
all things produced in factories
where donbe are exploited themselves.
but it didn't matter that we said
that female creativity is important.
every artisan who had a blog closed
it after a while. every creative woman
looked for a job in the factory.
husbands and boyfriends believed and
still believe that female craftsmanship
has no market. and they are right.
in fact many artisans have stopped
creating. I'm throwing everything out
today. because this company does not
value women's manual skills.
I'm tired of being considered unproductive.
( things in the basket are my creativity stuff and now I'm
I'm throwing them in the garbage)
)
