THE DAY OF CHANGING

Today is the day of turning point, of change, of scientific progress, of revolutionary discoveries in the medical, technical, social fields…. But today is also the day where useless vaccines are made only for a pure purpose of profit, of gain, today is the day in which we treat the land that welcomes us like a doormat and that presents wonders everywhere but that we, with the our selfishness, indifference, with our dull mentality, we are turning into a huge dustbin. Today is the day we prefer to ignore, rather than act, thinking “But yes, if I’m not promoting a change someone else will do, we are still 7 billion.” Today is the day of fake smiles and not laughter, it is the day when if you see a person in difficulty, who is sick, you prefer to go straight and mind your dicks, “anyway I don’t get anything out of it.” Today is the day when a like is worth more than a “hey, are you okay?” It is the day when being yourself is seen as a taboo, as a wrong choice…. It is the day in which homosexuals and transsexuals still feel uncomfortable even just walking around the square, because “how disgusting, but they did so at home”. It is the day when you are not free to be able to love a person, it is the day when children cannot dress up barbies and girls cannot compete with toy cars. It is the day when abortion is still seen not as a right, but as a heresy towards the Catholic Church. It is the day when a single mother cannot be seen as a brave girl, who has decided to dedicate body and soul to the dedication of her son, making major sacrifices, but is seen as a whore. Today is the day when animals are treated as if they do not have a life, a soul, and are mistreated only for the purely playful purpose. Today is the day when it is harder to find work than a needle in a haystack. Today is the day when those who differ are seen in a bad way, it is the day when those who have their own personality can only be insulted mistreated, laughed at. Today is the day when we should use our hands to embrace, and not to hurt, it is the day when love is transmitted almost and exclusively through social media, and is no longer demonstrated with gestures. Today is the day whenif we see a person from a country that is not ours, it is immediately “let’s move away, it can be dangerous”, today is the day we live to appear and not to be, it is the day when the main goals of one’s life are to be full of money and ride a Lamborghini and only then (perhaps) to find a person who truly loves us and build a family with him. Today is the day when we could do, but we don’t, the day when love is more an abstract conception than a concrete pillar at the foundation of our truly being ourselves happy. Today is the day when we are almost in 2020, but more than people I only see beautiful empty frames turning, without a soul, without their own thoughts and without ideals. Today is the day we should say “finally”, and isn’t there still a long way to go?

LOVELY PIECE

I watched that small, lonely piece of ash that had managed to escape from the fire that burned relentlessly, slowly turning the wood into simple and useless ash. It was still alight, still bright orange, and rising slowly, skyward, and then ... Poof. To disappear.

It was a simple pre-Christmas evening, the people in the square, the fire lit near the Christmas tree, the songs that resounded in the main streets, the lights ... Wherever you could breathe the air of celebration, wherever you turned you meet us looks happy and bright smiles.

Children scurried along the sidewalks, competing to see who could get on the train first.

I was there, in front of the lit fire, admiring the beauty of my small town, in the arms of those who, with a simple glance, could make me feel butterflies in my stomach. There was silence between us, we weren't talking because there was no need: our intertwined hands, our looks and smiles said everything; said it all the sweet kisses we exchanged, light and slow, which managed to drive me crazy in any case.

I turned to look at him, and once again I lost myself in those hazel eyes, so bright and cheerful, so deep, in which I continually drowned, losing the strength and the will to resist. I ran my gaze on his face: from the eyes I looked on the nose, then on the lips, so beautiful to kiss, and on the cheeks, so soft and warm ... I returned to rest my gaze on his eyes, which were now staring at me have fun, managing to get me a sincere smile, once again.

DEAR DAD

Dear Dad,
I am writing to tell you that I have grown up.
I know that now you will think "it is normal that you have grown up", but I am talking to you about growing up without you. So I start again:
Dear Dad,
I wanted to tell you that I grew up, even without you. Growing up without you is not growing like others grow up, growing up without you means sweating, it means watching a sunset and being sad, it means feeling stupid because at night you talk to yourself, because you hope someone hears you. You are my someone, but hoping hurts too much when I beg you to come back. Growing up without you means loving different, it means loving wrong. Yes dad, that's right. The absence of your love in my life has turned my heart into a boulder. And I'm not saying it just for effect. I haven't been able to love since I lost you, because watching you go was so painful that I no longer have the courage to let myself go. I don't want to relive a pain like that.
I wanted to tell you that I grew up, but that I wanted to see myself grow up with you. And you? Have you ever thought of me? Did you feel like kissing my forehead? To touch my hands? To sit at the table on Sunday? You should try the chicken cacciatore that mom makes ... It's really special. We eat a lot of it and then we compete to see who finishes first, so we take what is left. We often fight over this and if you only knew how much we laugh at each other. Maybe if you were there there would still be no chicken left in the pan, maybe the dishes would be right […] I wanted to tell you that I grew up, even without you. And I would like to show you how much my face has changed. I look a lot like you, the square jaw, the huge smile and the straight teeth. Besides, I like wine, like you.
I grew up but I still can't tell about us, I can't admit that I know what I'm missing. I can't say it out loud. The other day my mother and I had a fight, she said I don't open up to her, that I don't trust her because I never cry. He said "talk to me, tell me it still hurts too much." But I didn't answer her. I didn't even have the strength to look at her, but I felt her dead eyes on me. "I'm sorry you came across it." And he wept. In front of us he always tries to resist, but punctually cries a lot. She really can't do it. She is not afraid to cry, she is not ashamed to be seen. You were his great love, and his great pain. And now if he smiles, he smiles differently. This to God I will never forgive him.
… You really didn't have to go away.
I always listen to your favourite song to feel you with me every day.
